Some leading Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, opposed the law or now want to cut money for infrastructure services. Political Cartoons View All 1237 ImagesThere are almost 450 port and waterway projects and 190 to improve airport terminals. Trump, the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, has disparaged the infrastructure package and Republicans lawmakers who backed it. Biden has joked about Trump holding “infrastructure week” events during his presidency but never managing to sign an infrastructure law. Landrieu said projects already underway have helped spur about $615 billion in private sector manufacturing and clean energy investments nationwide.

Hundreds of migrants, from babies to the elderly, live inside a shuttle bus center at O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 1. As more migrants arrived, the city's existing services were strained. Chicago began using the city's two international airports as temporary shelters as the number of migrants arriving by plane increased. At O'Hare, migrants have spread out beyond the curtain for more space, sleeping along windows. At Boston's Logan International Airport, migrants who arrive overnight are given cots for a few hours before being sent elsewhere.

A charter pilot was cited for taking off without clearance, leading to a near-collision with a JetBlue plane. A charter pilot has been cited by the National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, for taking off without clearance — and nearly causing a collision with a JetBlue plane in Boston in February. Even so, the charter plane began its takeoff, narrowly missing a JetBlue flight about to land. The takeoff forced a JetBlue flight — that had previously been cleared to land on an intersecting runway — to abort its landing and perform a go-around. The JetBlue plane was an Embraer E90 and seats up to 114 passengers.

[1/3] Debris from overnight flooding along Cedar Pond Brook is pictured in Stony Point, New York, U.S., July 10, 2023. "Widespread, heavy rainfall capable of producing considerable to catastrophic flooding is beginning to unfold, road washouts are ongoing, and are expected to increase in extent and severity over the course of the day," the weather service said on Monday. On Monday morning, Amtrak suspended passenger train service between Albany and New York after flooding damaged tracks. "So that's basically what our priority is today, to try to get to them and open up these major arteries." About two dozen state roads were closed as life-threatening flooding spread across much of the state from the Massachusetts state line north to the Canadian border, Vermont State Police said.

Parts of the Burlington, Vermont, area have seen 6 inches (15 cm) of rain, with 2 inches (5 cm)of downpours expected Monday afternoon. Amtrak suspended passenger train service between the state capital Albany and New York City after flooding damaged tracks. Amtrak shares some of that route's track with the Metro-North commuter railroad into New York, which suspended some service on that line and another. "This is an all-hands-on-deck" event, Vermont Governor Phil Scott said at a news conference, a day after declaring a state of emergency for Vermont. About two dozen state roads were closed as potentially deadly flooding spread across much of the state from the Massachusetts state line north to the Canadian border, Vermont State Police said.

Police found blood and a damaged blood-stained knife in the home basement of Ana Walshe, the missing Massachusetts woman whose husband has been accused of allegedly hindering investigators, authorities said Monday. Prosecutors also revealed that Brian Walshe allegedly purchased $450 of goods that included cleaning supplies, mops and tape from a nearby Home Depot on Jan. 2. Ana Walshe. Brian Walshe's defense lawyer said it was the husband who told his wife's employers she was missing, explaining why he wasn't the first to call police. A judge ordered Brian Walshe held in lieu of $500,00 bond and his next court date was set for Feb. 9.
Airport workers across the country are rallying and walking off the job Thursday to draw attention to their current working conditions and legislation that could improve them. Workers at 15 U.S. airports, including ones in Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City and Phoenix, plan to participate in on-site rallies. Formal strikes — which could disrupt operations — are planned at Boston's Logan International Airport, Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and the Newark Liberty International Airport. The rallies are in support of the Good Jobs for Good Airports Act, introduced in June by Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. It would set a minimum wage of $15 for airport service workers, as well as ensure the workers have paid time off, holidays, adequate health care and other benefits.
